- November 13 – Robert Louis Stevenson born. Note: While Robert Louis Stevenson isn't affiliated with the franchise, his 1881 novel Treasure Island was referenced throughout the Pirates franchise. Chief among them, a sea shanty from the novel was a big part of the inspiration for Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me).[1]

- Unknown date – The rank Lieutenant Commander was made a distinct rank. Note: While the rank appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (which takes place circa 1750), but in real-world history, the rank was first used by the US Navy in 1862.
1894[]
- December 3 – Robert Louis Stevenson died probably from a cerebral haemorrhage in Vailima, Samoan Islands, Polynesia.
