- "Ran off with a Creole woman to Madagascar. She was half his age and twice his height!"
- ―The bartender to Will Turner
This man was a bartender who ran a tavern in or near the Caribbean island port of Tortuga. When Will Turner was seeking out Captain Jack Sparrow during the time of Lord Cutler Beckett's occupation of Port Royal, Turner encountered this man. The bartender was under the impression that Jack Sparrow had gone to Madagascar, having run off with a Creole woman who was half his age and twice his height.
Behind the scenes[]
- The Bartender was portrayed by Yvans Jourdain in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.[1]
- Though the scene was cut from the film, the character appears as the "bartender" in one of a late production draft of the film's script,[2] as well as the "innkeeper" in the film's junior novelization and the book Island of the Pelegostos.
- In the Dead Man's Chest comic, the character said lines that were originally said by the Shrimper.
