Battle for the Fountain of Youth is a musical theme composed by Hans Zimmer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It appeared as a track on the film's complete score.
Track description[]
This track has two parts in the score.
Part 1[]
The track begins with a fast, action-version of Blackbeard's main theme, replacing Davy Jones' theme in the "Jar of Dirt" theme, which is played next. It features choir, as different from when it first appeared in Dead Man's Chest. It then goes into a three-note cue, also heard in "Jar of Dirt", but with added choir, and then then a sad version of the theme representing Will and Elizabeth in The Curse of the Black Pearl, this time representing Philip Swift getting wounded.
Part 2[]
Part 2 begins with a bit of the "Bootstrap's Bootstraps" theme. Beckett's theme, otherwise now known as "England's Theme" is then barely heard. It then goes into a small action theme from the "Wheel of Fortune" theme.
Trivia[]
- Blackbeard's theme was done in a slightly different version, to have the exact same amount of notes and timing as Davy Jones' theme was in the "Jar of Dirt" theme.
- The "Jar of Dirt" theme is also known as the "Triple Guns" theme.
- There are actually two different versions of Part 1, one of which actually still uses Davy Jones' theme.
- This track is also known as "Battle Montage".
