|Behind the scenes|
It is unknown when or where the Black Dog was built, but it eventually became a pirate ship under the command of Edward Teague, the fearsome Pirate Lord of Madagascar and the Keeper of the Code. The ship was used by Teague during the Spanish Royal Navy officer Armando Salazar's campaign to exterminate piracy on the high seas. The ship's fate is unknown.
Behind the scenesEdit
- The Black Dog was created by the conceptual artists Simon Murton and Jeremy Love during the pre-production of Dead Men Tell No Tales. It was a CGI addition to the film.
- It's possible that the Black Dog was named after Black Dog, a minor antagonist from Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel Treasure Island.
- According to concept artist Jeremy Love, as far he recalls, the Black Dog was initially intended to be featured a little more prominently in the film that it did in the final cut.

I think they are in the background in one of the scenes from memory, but I'm not certain. I think initially Teague's ship was to feature a little more prominently than it did." - Jeremy Love
