"Fact is, you're signing up men tonight, pub called Captain's Daughter."
Joshamee Gibbs to Jack Sparrow[src]

The Captain's Daughter was a tavern in London during the 18th century, located close to the River Thames. This pub was known to be the place where Jack Sparrow, impersonated by Angelica, was recruiting a crew.

History

In the seedy wharf district of London, down by the river thames, the Captain's Daughter was a watering hole renowned for the roughness of its grog and the shadiness of its customers. Although this tavern was in the territory of King George II's men, it was a pirate-friendly inn. This tavern was mostly filled with ruffians, highwaymen, drunkards, barmaids and painted ladies.[1]

Jack Sparrow

"Lads, I'm sailin' with Sparrow! Who'll buy a sailor a drink?"
Derrick[src]

Around 1750, in her need of finding Jack Sparrow, Angelica started a rumor that Jack himself in London was recruiting a crew to undertake a modest voyage. Angelica impersonated him by wearing clothes and gear similar to his. She also had Scrum, a pub regular, to assist her while providing entertainment with his mandola. The rumor would soon be heard by Joshamee Gibbs, Sparrow's loyal First Mate. Gibbs sailed to London to find his friend, but was captured when made inquiries to Jack's whereabouts.[2]

After Gibbs was saved in the Old Bailey by Jack Sparrow himself, Gibbs told Jack of the rumors. Upon learning of the rumors, which he found insulting, he was intrigued and wanted finding the imposter. But he wouldn't get the chance after being captured at St. James's Palace. After escaping King George's royal guard, Jack went into the tavern with his father, Edward Teague, to discuss his venture to the Fountain of Youth as well as the Profane Ritual. Jack and Teague shared a drink before Jack confronted Scrum, whom he learned was recruiting the crew.[2]

As Scrum made fun of Jack, not believing he was the real Jack Sparrow, Derrick was recruited into "Jack's crew". Jack then spots a shadow on the wall and followed it into the Captain's Daughter storeroom, where he finds the Jack imposter. The two Jacks face off against each other in a duel within the tavern's storeroom. After a while of fighting through the barbecue pit and the ceiling, Jack soon discovered the imposter was Angelica. Jack and Angelica had a brief reunion, where they would talk about their past and Angelica's impersonating Jack.[2]

As Angelica asked Jack of the Fountain of Youth, Scrum came in to warn Angelica of the King's guards arriving. Scrum blocked the door as Angelica argued with Jack until the guards finally bursts through the door. Jack and Angelica were forced to fight the guards, where Jack cuts barrels, which sprayed ale and wine against the guards. After Jack drank out of one barrel, the guards pointed their weapons and Jack and Angelica. Using her sword to cut a lever, Angelica was able to trigger the storeroom's trap door, allowing her and Jack to escape through water which led to the River Thames.[2]

Physical appearance

The Captain's Daughter was like any other pirate-friendly tavern. It was a scene of numerous bar room brawls that occurred in the tavern. Tables from the inn were scuffed from the patron's knives and pistols. Renowned for the roughness of its grog and the shadiness of its customers, there was no better place then to assemble a crew of sea dogs.[1]

The storeroom of the Captain's Daughter was as large as the tavern itself. It had a barbecue pit, a ramp and a pulley. Numerous barrels full of ale and wine could be found throughout the storeroom. Near the back, there was a lever which activated a trap door which led to the River Thames.
