Kraken[]

2kraken

The Kraken attacking the Edinburgh Trader.

"Let no joyful voice be heard! Let no man look up at the sky with hope! And let this day be cursed by we who ready to wake...the Kraken!"
Davy Jones[src]

The Kraken is a legendary sea monster of enormous size, a legend that may have originated from sightings of giant squid, as well as the subject of sailors' superstitions and mythos. For centuries this beast of the deep has inspired fear among sailors. Known to many, and feared by many, the Kraken was Davy Jones' obedient leviathan, sent to prey on unwary ships and mariners. The fearsome creature's giant tentacles break the surface of the sea and drag the doomed ship down to Davy Jones' Locker.

Keep a weather eye[]

"Just wait, Captain Sparrow. You give it one hour, maybe two, keep a weather eye open and you will see white sails on that horizon."
Elizabeth Swann to Jack Sparrow[src]

To maintain a background awareness of something; to remain alert to changes without it occupying one's full attention. Elizabeth Swann once said it to Captain Jack Sparrow, and Will Turner said it later to Elizabeth at least twice.

Keelhauling[]

"This useless crew can't even catch-up to a bunch of half-wit pirates. I should keelhaul the lot of them."
Benedict Huntington[src]

Keelhauling is a form of punishment meted out to sailors at sea. The sailor was tied to a line that looped beneath the vessel, thrown overboard on one side of the ship, and dragged under the ship's keel, either from one side of the ship to the other, or the length of the ship (from bow to stern). As the hull was usually covered in barnacles and other marine growth, if the offender was pulled quickly, keelhauling would typically result in serious cuts, loss of limbs and even decapitation. If the victim were dragged slowly, his weight might lower him sufficiently to miss the barnacles, but this method would frequently result in his drowning.

Kidnapping[]

"Miss Swann, they've come to kidnap you!"
"What?"
"You're the governor's daughter.
"
Estrella and Elizabeth Swann[src]

The action of abducting someone and holding them captive.

Knave[]

"Some of those misbegotten scurvy knaves will no doubt put up a fight, and I’d like nothin’ better than to skewer a few. And best believe I intend to help with puttin’ nooses around the necks of the survivors!"
Hector Barbossa[src]

A dishonorable, shifty, trecherous kind of person.

Kohl[]

"Your eyes. I love your eyes. The way you've enhanced them. What did you do?"
"A little trick I picked up in the east. It's called kohl. They all outline their eyes there, in that part of the world, both men and women. The sun is so hot, and it helps protect against the glare off the water. It also helps prevent infections. You should try it, Jack. It would look wonderful on you. Let me show you.
"
Jack Sparrow and Esmeralda Maria Consuela Anna de Sevilla[src]

An ancient eye cosmetic, typically used as eyeliner to contour and/or darken the eyelids.
