Montezuma was an emperor at the time of the conquest of the Aztec Empire.
- "I think Cortés called the spirit 'Montecuhzoma'. That's the word in Nahuatl, the Aztec language, for Montezuma―an emperor of the Aztec empire."
- ―Arabella Smith to Jack Sparrow
An emperor was the (male) ruler of an empire. Empress, the female equivalent, may indicate an emperor's wife, mother/grandmother, or a woman who rules in her own right and name. Emperors were generally recognized to be of the highest monarchic honour and rank, surpassing king.
History[]
Montecuhzoma was an emperor of the Aztec empire, most notably during the conquest by the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés.[1] Mistress Ching, a Chinese pirate and the Pirate Lord of the Pacific Ocean, commanded a formidable fleet of her own, larger than even the Chinese Emperor's fleet.[2] Sao Feng, the Pirate Lord of Singapore and the South China Sea, enjoyed the trappings of glory and was holding court like a true emperor with candles, incense, and concubines. The Empress was Sao Feng's pride and joy.[3] At least one legend of Jack Sparrow had Madame Tang using the Dragon Spirit to make herself empress of the world.[4]
