Will Turner and Jack Sparrow[src]

The Escape from the Spanish Silver Mine was a legendary[2] escape by pirate prisoners from a Spanish silver mine in the Caribbean.

Prelude[]

After stealing the HMS Interceptor from Port Royal in order to rescue Elizabeth Swann from Hector Barbossa, an attack on the ship took place. Jack and Will defeated the Spanish, but Jack found a chance and escaped, leaving Will to be captured.

Battle[]

Jack Sparrow later found the mine that Will was sentenced to work in, and secured the keys for Will's shackles. The two then decided to fight their way out of the mines. They used mine carts to blow up barricades, and rescued a fat Pirate. Then, he worked his way to free yet another pirate, so the two pirates operated an elevator for Jack and Will to enter the higher ground. But now, a Spanish officer commanded his soldiers to fire at will and destroy the mine carts before they could cause any more damage to the mine. But it was too late, for Jack and Will killed the attacking musketeers and secured their freedom after blowing up the last remaining obstacles in their path and reaching the HMS Interceptor.

Behind the scenes[]

  • It is uncertain whether this was just a story told to citizens of Fort Alvo Grande and Alberto Chaves by Jack Sparrow to keep the hangman from executing him and Will and buy time in order to allow Elizabeth Swann to come along and cut loose their ropes, or a real battle. When Jack tells this story and the one preceding it, Will shows no objection, like he usually does in Jack's other tales, and it doesn't contradict the events seen in Curse of the Black Pearl. However there's no confirmation that it actually happened either and no time frame for when it could have taken place. Therefore, it is not currently determinable whether this battle actually took place, or if it's a made up event.

Notes and references[]

  1. The timeline established in On Stranger Tides (which takes place in 1750) and Dead Men Tell No Tales (which takes place in 1751) sets the events of The Legend of Jack Sparrow around 1728. However, the exact placement still has to be officially confirmed by The Walt Disney Company.
