- "You're no longer aboard—or captain—of the Cutlass, Louis. May I remind you. You are a member of the crew of Fleur de la Mort. My ship. And you will do as I say."
"Fleur de la Mort?"
"Flower of death."
"Cheery." - ―Laura Smith, Jack Sparrow, and Jean Magliore
The Fleur de la Mort, also called Fleur de la Morte, literally meaning the "flower of death", was a pirate ship. Previously owned and captained by the infamous pirate Left-Foot Louis, the Fleur was most notably under the command of Captain Laura Smith. The Fleur de la Mort's most remarkable feature was the its magical deep blue sails, sown by natives of Samoa, which allowed the ship to appear invisible to anyone not aboard. The crew of the Fleur de la Mort consisted of Mr. Reece, Silverback, and Left-Foot Louis, who returned to the Fleur after no longer being captain of the Cutlass. The crew of the Fleur de la Mort had dealings with young Jack Sparrow and the crew of the Barnacle, through the reunion of Laura's daughter, Arabella. Shortly afterwards, Louis and Silverback led a mutiny against Captain Smith, leaving only Reece to be a member of the crew.
History[]
- "Speaking of ships, what we need to do is find the Fleur de la Mort. Immediately."
- ―Laura Smith
The Fleur de la Mort first came into Laura Smith's possession when she was working as a rumrunner. After being betrayed by Left-Foot Louis, Smith took the ship and started a life of piracy. For years, she sailed the Seven Seas.[2]

Years later, Laura came across Louis again and allowed him to join her crew. Shortly after reuniting with Arabella, her daughter who was with young Jack Sparrow and the crew of the Barnacle, Laura welcomed them aboard her ship. They then uncovered a mutiny by Louis and Silverback. Smith was able to defend her ship though she lost all of her crew, except for Mr. Reece.[1][2] After Jack and his crew return to New Orleans to find the entire city ruled over by the nefarious Madame Minuit, the combined crews of the Barnacle and the Fleur de la Mort defeated Madame Minuit and her powerful allies.[8]
At some point, Billy Turner joined the crew of Fleur de la Mort.[3][4]
Behind the scenes[]
- "Captained by the pirate Laura Smith, the magical deep blue sails of the La Fleur de la Mort render her invisible on the open sea."
- ―Unknown
The Fleur de la Mort appears in Rob Kidd's Young Jack Sparrow series, beginning with the fifth book The Age of Bronze,[1] later identified by name in the sixth book, Silver.[2] For unknown reasons, likely a mistake, the ship's name was spelled as Fleur de la Morte in the following volumes, namely the seventh book City of Gold,[9] and the ninth book Dance of the Hours.[10] The ship was also named La Fleur de la Mort in the Pirates of the Caribbean PocketModel game.[11]
