Jared Butler is an American voice actor. Considered an official "audio double" for Johnny Depp, he has vocally portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Pirates of the Caribbean Online, Disney Infinity, Kingdom Hearts III, and Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life.^[1]^[2] He also provided his voice as Young Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales^[3]^[4] as well as the Pirates section of the Fantasmic! show at Disneyland.

He is the only actor (voice or otherwise) to have portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow more than five times in various Pirates of the Caribbean media. Butler is also credited as voicing other characters previously portrayed by Depp in video games including Rango as the title character and Tarrant Hightopp/Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. He reprised the role of the Hatter, along with Tonto from the 2013 film The Lone Ranger, in the Disney Infinity game.

On July 28, 2015, Jared Butler made his first post on Twitter, saying he was waiting until his voiceover repertoire contained 140 characters.^[7]

On January 29, 2019, following the release of Kingdom Hearts III days before, Jared Butler posted on his social media asking who had reached the Pirates world,^[8] also saying he could now confirm that he voiced Captain Jack Sparrow.^[9] Butler said, on separate occasions, that it was his distinct pleasure and he was honored to have provided the voice for Kingdom Hearts III^[10] and for Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life.^[11]

Jared Butler is a fan of Game of Thrones, which starred Pirates actors Anton Lesser, DeObia Oparei, Jonathan Pryce, and Ian McShane. In August 2015, after hearing McShane was going to be in the show in a then-unknown role, Butler tweeted he was already his favorite character,^[12] later claiming that with McShane plus Max von Sydow joining the cast made Game Of Thrones the greatest TV Show ever.^[13]
On January 2018, Butler tweeted a "Hollywood cliche" that's ready to be retired: Character carrying that one special bullet that is for one special person. Logan, Lethal Weapon, Pirates Of The Caribbean, and Peaky Blinders S4 as such examples.^[14]
After the release of Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life, Jared Butler implied he sometimes played games just to hear his voice.^[15]
Within the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jared Butler posted images featuring Pirates actors Keith Richards, with a meme saying COVID tested positive for Richards,^[16]^[17] and a scene from the 2004 Shaun of the Dead featuring Bill Nighy, showing how Butler felt every time someone didn't want the vaccine.^[18]
