Kaya Rose Scodelario (born Kaya Rose Humphrey; March 13, 1992) is an English actress. She is known for her breakthrough performance as Wikipedia:Effy Stonem in the E4 teen drama Skins and as Teresa Agnes in The Maze Runner film series. She was recently cast as Carina Smyth, the female lead in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

In January 2015, Kaya Scodelario was reported to star in the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film,[1] and was confirmed on February 17, when production began.[2] After filming concluded on July 2015, Kaya Scodelario's character was confirmed as Carina Smyth during the D23 Expo presentation for the film.
Scodelario explained the character's motivation and role saying, "[Carina] is an astronomer, and she is an academic, she's fighting for the right to study at university, because women couldn't at that time.
