- "The ship was a brigantine, name of La Vipère. Means ‘snake’ in French, and the name was appropriate. She was a pirate vessel."
- ―Jack Sparrow to Amenirdis
La Vipère was a flagship of Christophe-Julien de Rapièr, the French pirate captain who operated in the Caribbean in the late 1720s and early 1730s. A brigantine, she was very fast and maneuverable.
