A longboat was an open rowing boat commonly with eight or ten oarsmen. Longboats were double banked, with two men per bench.
They were held aboard larger ships such as the Black Pearl, the Flying Dutchman, the HMS Dauntless, the HMS Interceptor, the HMS Providence and the Queen Anne's Revenge.
