Well, aside from occasional vandals, everything works fine. Recently I've gotten my hands on some POTC tie-in novels so I expect to be very occupied with the articles over the next few weeks. As for Karen Gillan, those "news" are actually over six months old (look here), and they are just rumors. As far as I know, the reboot project was abandoned over a year ago . The latest officially confirmed news say that Ted Elliott and Craig Mazin are writing the script for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, not the reboot.
Thank goodness. It's safe to say most of the fans want a 6th one than a reboot. I'm fingers crossed the will bring back other original trilogy characters such as Pintel, Ragetti, and Cotton (and parrot). :)
Ooh interesting, thanks for the clarification. Looks like these rumours are going to be around for a lot longer. Would be nice to have some clarity and official confirmation for sure.
On this wiki I notice you don't have any form of Forum or Discussions. Would you like me to enable Discussions for you so the community can chat about the franchise? --Spongebob456talk 18:32, May 7, 2020 (UTC)
@Topwalker I'd also like to see all those characters again. They did appear in Terry Rossio's original script for Pirates 5 but that version of the script was rejected, unfortunately.
@Spongebob456 Um, we do have a forum. That's where the community discussed my adoption of this Wiki as you recommended, remember? Anyway, I just opened a topic where we can discuss Pirates 6. Thanks for reminding me. Cheers.
Sorry, I more meant this wiki does not have up-to-date Special:Forums or Discussions which may be more accessible for users to discuss the franchise. Great you started a discussion on Pirates 6, interested to see opinions on that. :) --Spongebob456talk 13:38, May 10, 2020 (UTC)
Excuse me, I have been trying to fix the Black Pearl page but everytime I do it says my edits will be marked with inappropriate language. I don't know who vandalized the page but I want to fix it, so can you review the previous work as I am at a lost.
I'm looking through the Abuse filter log and it appears both of you have triggered something called "filter 4", which seems to be a code word for "Inappropriate Language", and the system automatically didn't allow you to save your edits. I'll see if something can be done about that.
Hi! Sorry for my english and for what you are going to read.
I report you some continuity errors that I have reported in the italian PotC wiki. Maybe you can add them on the page Continuity errors whit an appropriate grammatical and syntactic form.
1) In the Curse of the Black Pearl, during the battle of Isla de Muerta, Weatherby, Jacoby and Monk, while fighting with Will Turner, they scream for pain when Turner hits them. However, why they do that? Aren't they supposed to feel nothing beacause of the curse?
2) Where is the Fountain of Youth? In Florida (as shown in AWE) or on a unnamed island?
3) In Dead Men Tell No Tales, Jack Sparrow, during the shark chase and the Hangman's Bay scene, is seen without his hat and his belt for the sword (I don't know the technical name). So we can assume he left them aboard the Dying Gull. However, when he is aboard the Black Pearl, he has both his hat and the belt for the sword. Materialization?
Hey, Custode della PdCwiki! It's nice to meet a fellow colleague. Thank you for informing about those continuity errors. I must have missed them. I'll make sure to put them in the article. Do you have a similar article on your Wiki? If that's the case we should interwiki link them. Cheers!
Good good! No problems is what we want to see. In terms of things being quiet, there are always things you can do to get the community involved and spark some interest. Are there any big goals you want to accomplish on the wiki? Any areas you're unhappy with?
Luckily, Hollywood Reporter recently announced a reboot is in development! Might be good to start an article about the reboot movie series.
In terms of other projects, it might good to have Discussions enabled here as that can get community members talking about the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and what the reboot might look like! It's a great to way get the community interacting. I can enable Discussions for you.
Perhaps a new background design for the wiki might be good, showing some of the characters and ships from the franchise. I can help with that as well if you like!
Finally, you could consider making infoboxes on this wiki portable to help this wiki be more accessible to users viewing it from mobile devices. As it stands, 59% of your wiki readership view the wiki from the mobile skin. I'm more than happy to help with the transfer to portable infoboxes, and they can be made to look identical to current ones. :)
Hopefully these project ideas give you something to consider and give you further ways to develop the wiki! :D
The problem with all the news about the Pirates reeboot, or even Pirates 6, if there's any chance for the current series to be continued, is that it takes forever for Disney to confirm those news, and in 99% of the cases they will turn out to be fake. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see another Pirates movie, but I'm very skeptical about all the news that don't come from Disney, Johnny Depp, Jerry Bruckheimer, Terry Rossio, or some other official Pirates-related source. The only way to be completely sure about this subject would be to ask Mister Mazin himself via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or whatever he's using these days.
We already have the forums where our users can discuss everything Pirates-related. The blogs are also good for announcing and discussing some new Pirates movie/comic book/video game...
A new background sounds like a good idea. I already thought about making a DMTNT wallpaper to use it instead of the old background. I'll write a blog and see what the rest of the community thinks about that idea.
Good stuff! Yeah I get what you mean re news/rumours. Generally speaking though THR is very reliable, although they have been wrong before. Makes sense to wait for official confirmation, hopefully we hear something soon.
In terms of forums, they are a good platform for sure but are a little bit of date. Discussions have a bit of a better design and are more oriented towards social chat. An advantage of Discussions as well is that they make this wiki eligible for inclusion on the Fandom app. It makes your wiki really easy to access on mobile devices from a convenient app on a mobile device.
Yeah, a background really helps make a wiki pop. Good idea to message the community. See if they have any background suggestions as well. There are some really talented creators out there. Be sure to Announce that blog post so more community members will see it! :)
I'm an employee from the Sword and the Stone that made the weapons for the movies. We have a couple that we're trying to track down in the film as we can't remember which actor used them. Is this something you'd be interested in helping out with?
I think it might be better to ask this question on the POTC subreddit or some similar website. The only weapons I was interested in were the ones used by the main characters. I wish I could help you more but I can't. Sorry.
Hello, Black Caesar! First, congratulations on becoming the newest admin of this fine Wiki! If you need any help from a veteran editor, you just have to ask. And second, since I'm not the admin anymore, would you be so kind to change the protection level on my userpage? I can't edit it anymore. Thanks in advance.
