Nipperkin was a member of Hector Barbossa's cursed crew, forsaken upon taking a piece of gold from the Chest of Cortés. He participated in the batle aboard the HMS Dauntless.
Biography[]
Nipperkin joined the crew of the Black Pearl under Captain Jack Sparrow prior to the search for Isla de Muerta, and served under Sparrow until the night of Barbossa's mutiny. Nipperkin and the rest of the crew stood with Barbossa against Jack, who was then marooned while the crew, now under Barbossa's command, continued on to Isla de Muerta. There, they took the treasure of Hernán Cortés and spent it all on life's pleasures. It was only later that the crew realized the treasure was cursed. Nipperkin found himself unable to die, and unable to feel neither pleasure nor pain. Under moonlight, he and the crew became walking skeletons, and the undead men began their quest to return all eight hundred and eighty-two gold coins to their rightful place.
An end to the pirates' curse was finally within reach after ten years of suffering, following the Black Pearl's attack on the town of Port Royal, which saw the last piece of the gold back in their hands. However, while the pirates were preparing the blood sacrifice that would lift their curse, Jack Sparrow entered the treasure grotto on Isla de Muerta, and told his former crew that the HMS Dauntless was lying in ambush for them just offshore. Barbossa then ordered the undead crew to walk along the ocean floor and attack the British Navy by surprise. With his sword in hand, Nipperkin led the other pirates forward as they marched underwater, turning into skeletons beneath the light of the full moon. During the attack, Nipperkin took notice of Governor Weatherby Swann hiding in the captain's cabin, prompting him and several other pirates to shove their skeletal arms through the glass windows of the cabin in an attempt to grab at the governor. By the time James Norrington and his marines returned to the ship, Nipperkin had disengaged from assaulting the governor. He battled the Navy crew until the curse was lifted, and, upon seeing Koehler dead, dropped his cutlass and was taken back to Port Royal to be hanged.
Personality and traits[]
Like many of the pirates serving under Captain Barbossa, Nipperkin was recognizable by his distinctive appearance. Nipperkin was a light-skinned man of color, with dreadlocked hair that appeared to be decorated with some type of fangs, and had a grey goatee. He carried a cutlass and flintlock pistol, and had at least three daggers strapped to his baldric.
