"The going price these days for a male slave in his prime would run, say, between one hundred and two hundred pieces of eight. In pounds sterling, the currency the EITC uses, that would equal between sixty and one hundred and twenty pounds."
Jack Sparrow[src]

Pound sterling, commonly known as the pound and less commonly referred to as sterling, was the official currency of the Kingdom of Great Britain. It was subdivided into 100 pence (singular: penny).

The bounty for the capture of Jack Sparrow was two hundred pounds.

"My name is Maria, a merchant's daughter fair..."
"And I have left my parents and three thousand pounds a year. My heart is pierced by Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold. There is nothing can console me but my jolly sailor bold.
Scrum and Gunner[src]

During the War of Jolly Roger Governor Weatherby Swann of Port Royal offered a reward of one thousand pounds for the capture of the infamous undead pirate Jolly Roger.[1] At some point before the quest for the Trident of Poseidon the British authorities offered two hundred pounds to any person who could surrender Jack Sparrow dead or alive. However, over the years, as Jack lost his luck and became only a shadow of his former self, the reward slowly but steadily decreased to just one pound.[2]
