- "Save yourselves!"
- ―The sailor
Not much is known about this man's early life, except that at some point of his life he became a sailor in the service of the British Empire. He would eventually became a member of the crew of King George II's ship the HMS Providence under the command of privateer Hector Barbossa, Lieutenant Commander Theodore Groves and Lieutenant Gillette.
In 1750, this sailor was among many of the sailors who were enlisted by the King to participate in the quest for the Fountain of Youth before The Spaniard's fleet or the Queen Anne's Revenge's crew could find it. Along with other assembled sailors and officers, he was scared of going to Whitecap Bay on account of the rumours they had heard, mainly about the mermaids, leading the sailor to shout to the rest of the crew to save themselves, and the sailor jumped overboard into the sea, immediately starting to swim to a far-off island on the horizon. His further fate is unknown.
Behind the scenesEdit
- The Providence Sailor was portrayed by an uncredited Taylor Young in On Stranger Tides.
- In one of the film's earlier revision screenplay drafts the sailor had no lines, jumping overboard immediately after Barbossa confirmed the Providence's destination.
