"We are an unimaginative lot when it comes to naming things." The title of this article is conjectural. |
- "Gentlemen, I am Captain McGlue. Welcome aboard the Earl King. I dare say I have never seen such an odd pair of ship's officers in the Queen's service."
- ―McGlue to Jack Sparrow and Will Turner
This woman was the Queen of Great Britain during the Age of Piracy. At some point after Jack Sparrow and Will Turner had commandeered the HMS Interceptor, a brisk and sturdy vessel of the British Royal Navy,[2] they impersonated ship's officers when they came upon the Earl King under Captain McGlue, who mentioned the Queen.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The woman only known as "the Queen" was first mentioned in the comic "The Accidental Pirate!" in Disney Adventures, published in 2003 under the title Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.[1] The Queen was also mentioned in the 2006 video game Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow.[2]
While unconfirmed, it is likely that the Queen is Caroline of Ansbach, the wife of King George II of Great Britain, due to the events of The Curse of the Black Pearl being set in the late 1720s.[3]
