"The Santiago. Famously captained by Ponce de León."
Jack Sparrow[src]

The Santiago was a Spanish Royal Navy galleon captained by a famous conquistador, Juan Ponce de León.[1] Ponce de León was known to have used this ship when he discovered the legendary Fountain of Youth.[2] All of its journeys were documented in a logbook. Because of an ancient storm, the ship disappeared, along with its captain.

Over the next two centuries, the Santiago became the subject of many stories, and many schemes of ruthless men.[3] The ship's log of the Santiago was discovered in 1750 by the Spanish, which triggered the quest for the Fountain of Youth.[4] At some point during the journey, Jack Sparrow found the wreck of the Santiago in uncharted jungles, while searching for the mystic Chalices of Cartagena.[5]
