The Scarecrow was a mysterious adventurer who operated in the Caribbean during the early 18th century. The Scarecrow rescued Jack Sparrow and several other people from the HMS Achilles. Jack Sparrow attempted to join The Scarecrow's crew, but was ultimately rejected.
Behind the scenes
- The Scarecrow is based on Reverend Doctor Christopher Syn, a character created by the novelist Russell Thorndike in 1915. He is the main hero of the series of adventure novels set in the 18th century that were adapted by The Walt Disney Company into a television serial in 1964. However, the Scarecrow in Pirates of the Caribbean and Christopher Syn cannot be the same character because the timeline of the Pirates series sets Enter... the Scarecrow! around 1729, the same year when Thorndike's hero was born in his novels. Also, Syn did not became known as the Scarecrow until 1775, several decades after the events of Enter... the Scarecrow!.
