This man served in the British Royal Navy aboard the HMS Dauntless under Commodore James Norrington's command. In 1728, the Dauntless's crew, including the steersman, was tasked to accompany Norrington to Isla de Muerta to save Will Turner from Hector Barbossa's clutches.
Not much is known about this man's early life. At some point of his life, this man became a helmsman in the British Royal Navy at the serve of King George II placed at Port Royal, which was governed by Governor Weatherby Swann. He was assigned then assigned as the helmsman aboard the HMS Dauntless, commanded by Port Royal's Commodore James Norrington.
Around 1728, when Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner took the Dauntless, the Interceptor boarded the ship and he went aboard the Dauntless along with all other crewmen. The steersman manned the helm, but found out that Sparrow and Turner, who captured the Interceptor in the meantime, had disabled the rudder chain of the Dauntless, causing the ship to turn around and ram into Lieutenant Gillette's rowboat.
Shortly after the Dauntless was anchored at Isla de Muerta to save Turner from Hector Barbossa, the undead captain of the Black Pearl, the steersman remained at the ship while several longboats containing Norrington and half of the Dauntless's crew rowed out to the island in order to surprise Barbossa's cursed crew. The steersman was then aboard the Dauntless with Lieutenant Gillette and half of his fellow crewmen when the cursed pirates attacked them, leading the steersman to participate in the battle. His further fate is unknown.
