A stockade, also known as stocks, was an instrument of torture that locked people's head and hands, forcing their body to be in a bent position.


Following his capture by the East India Trading Company, the French Pirate Lord Chevalle was kept in a stockade in Fort Charles before he was sentenced to death by hanging.
