What is it?[]

What exactly is this list? Do it include sources which have any refernces to PotC but do not deserve an own article? If yes, why does it have a section on Kingdom Hearts II? Or is it for all non-canon sources with any material referring to PotC, but then we should include much more things like Giant Robot or Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. Movie posters[]

Should we include all movies in which posters for the PotC movies are seen into this list or is it too few? El Chupacabra 14:25, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Own articles[]

Should we create own articles on the "E" ticket issue 32 (which seems to be somehow similar to the visual guides) and Kingdom keepers (features the ride, comparable to Kingdom Hearts II) El Chupacabra 14:25, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Reap the Wild Wind[]

Not sure if this deserves to be added to the list. There's this old adventure film Reap the Wild Wind, which I watched once, a long time ago. It's about the good guys led by John Wayne fighting against a group of pirates/wreckers posing as legitimate salvagers on the west coast of Florida in the 1840s. A few decades ago I got my hands on a German movie magazine KINO, the 1987 issue. Today I looked through it again and found out that Reap the Wild Wind was released in Germany as Piraten im karibischen Meer, which literally means Pirates in the Caribbean Sea. I looked at the German Wikipedia and the info is true. It appears the film was released in Germany in 1951, or slightly earlier. Now comes the problem. Should we count this as a reference to Pirates of the Caribbean, even accidental reference, because the film was originally released in 1942, long before Walt Disney designed the ride, and even before Disneyland was opened.--UskokViceroy of the Indies, Nemesis 16:35, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Perhaps we could make it a section in this article? If we're being honest here, this would be yet another example of some media preceding the original attraction. "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" being based on the "Dead Man's Chest" song from Treasure Island, both TI and Peter Pan being the closest to pirate films Disney made before the ride, and there is even other Disney media that predates it all, like Morgan's Ghost which was in development c. 1939-1941 yet also uses "dead men tell no tales" (or at least Disney's first known usage of the phrase) almost 30 years before POTC opened at Disneyalnd. I'm sure there could be more examples, but those are just on top of my head. -- CJSFanOn Stranger Tides, Arkham City 18:17, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Ah, I didn't even think about the other list. Silly me. Agreed.--UskokViceroy of the Indies, Nemesis 18:30, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
