Tara and Levi are monkey actors. Tara and Levi are female capuchin monkeys who portrayed Jack the Monkey in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the first installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise.

During the production of the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Chiquita, along with another monkey named Pablo, portrayed Jack the Monkey. Among the film's special features is "The Monkey's Name Is Jack" which showcases Levi and Tara, who took turns playing the infamous primate pirate and relive the challenges of working with these two tiny masters of mayhem.
According to Pirates writer Terry Rossio on his website Wordplay, Tara had became a celebrity, doing special appearances and being paid a lot after the success of The Curse of the Black Pearl. In his words, that was the reason for which she didn't reprise her role as Jack in further films.[1] Levi's status after the first film is unknown. They were succeeded by Chiquita and Pablo, who both portrayed the role in the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise sequels Dead Man's Chest, At World's End, On Stranger Tides, and Dead Men Tell No Tales
Retirement[]
As of February 14, 2021, after spending 25 years in the movie industry, Tara started living out her retirement at Animal Tracks. It was also discovered that she had mid-stage lymphoma, and after looking into treatment options, it was determined observation and quality of life management were the better options for Tara's ultimate happiness.[2][3] As of April 25, 2022, Tara still resided at Animal Tracks.[4]
