The Legend of Pirates Online, commonly abbreviated as TLOPO, is an ongoing fan made recreation of a previously discontinued MMO called Pirates of the Caribbean Online, itself based on the series of movies and the Disney theme park attraction of the same name.

On August 20, 2013, it was announced that Pirates Online would be shut down on September 19. In response to the closure, former players have created multiple private servers of Pirates Online, the most successful one being The Legend of Pirates Online. The project so far has released videos of the Character Creation, Potion Brewing, Fireworks, Multiplayer, Questing, Sailing, PvP, SvS, and much more. The project is currently in Open Beta stage, which was released on September 19th, 2017, exactly 4 years after the closure of the original game.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

History[]

The Legend of Pirates Online began work on February 16, 2015, although it had been planned since November 2014. On March 23, 2015, the project was announced to the public by a video posted on YouTube.[1] This video has been viewed over 20,000 times since its publishing.

On April 29, 2015, Pirates Online Rewritten merged into The Legend of Pirates Online in an effort to create the game faster and more efficiently by having a larger work force. By Septepmber 19, 2017, four years after the closure of the original Pirates Online, Open Beta is scheduled to be released.
