The Walt Disney Company, also known as Disney Enterprises, Inc. or simply Disney, is one of the largest media and entertainment corporations in the world. Founded on October 16, 1923 by Walt Disney and his brother Roy Disney as a small animation studio, it became one of the biggest Hollywood studios and owner of eleven theme parks and several television networks, including the American Broadcasting Company (ABC).
Disney's corporate headquarters and primary production facilities are located in California at the Walt Disney Studios (Burbank).
Though the studio's first production was the animated Snow White, it would eventually come to create live action movies as well.
In 2003, and basing on the Pirates of the Caribbean (ride), the company created Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. This was a momentous occasion, as it was the first ever PG-13 movie released under their label. The movie did so well, that three sequels were made. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
