There is an auction house that got hold of some of James Ward Byrkit's original original pencil artwork from wayyyyy early in the development of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, and At World's End. Pieces that Mr. Byrkit showed to Gore Verbinski to jumpstart the sequels, since there were no scripts yet.
For anyone's interest... FYI, I can confirm this is legit.

While the designs would undergo many changes throughout the film's production, they retained the haunting spirit of these first drawings. Measuring 9" x 12" each, the ink drawings display in very good condition with light edge wear and a 0.25" area of paper surface loss to the Captain drawing.
