Elizabeth Swann's many weapons.
- "That is a wonderful trick. Except, once again, you are between me and my way out. And now...you have no weapon. Who makes all these?"
"I do. And I practice with them three hours a day." - ―Jack Sparrow and Will Turner
A weapon, arm or armament is any implement or device that can be used to deter, threaten, inflict physical damage, harm, or kill. Weapons were used to increase the efficacy and efficiency of activities such as hunting, crime, law enforcement, self-defense, warfare, or suicide. In a broader context, weapons may be construed to include anything used to gain a tactical, strategic, material or mental advantage over an adversary or enemy target. While ordinary objects—sticks, rocks, bottles, chairs—could be used as improvised weapons, many objects were expressly designed for the purpose; these range from simple implements such as clubs, axes and swords, to complicated firearms like muskets and pistols.
Behind the scenes[]
Weapons first appeared in Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean in 1967,[1] and identified by name through the souvenir book.[2] The term "weapon" was first spoken in a line of dialogue in the 1996 book Climb Aboard If You Dare!: Stories From The Pirates of the Caribbean.[3] Although weapons make their first motion picture appearance in the Treasure Island film adaptation in 1950,[4] the first Pirates of the Caribbean film appearance was in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003.[5]
