- "Who makes all these?"
"I do. And I practice with them three hours a day." - ―Jack Sparrow and Will Turner
William Turner used several different swords during the course of his adventures.
History[]
First sword[]
- "That is a wonderful trick. Except, once again, you are between me and my way out. And now, you have no weapon."
- ―Jack Sparrow to Will Turner
As a blacksmith, Will's most commonly made item was a sword, which he practiced with three hours a day. Unlike the ceremonial sword he made for Commodore Norrington's promotion, Will's weapon looked simple though had a special blade. By using the methods of Spanish swordsmiths, Will had made it immensely strong, yet light and flexible. Will proudly engraved his own name on this blade.[1] The sword was most notably used when Will Turner fought pirates like Captain Jack Sparrow and the cursed pirates who attacked Port Royal.[2]
Will carried the sword during the commandeering of the HMS Interceptor and the journeys to Tortuga and Isla de Muerta. He used the sword to fight the cursed pirates when they attacked the Interceptor. The sword was lost when the Interceptor exploded following the capture of the motley crew. Will was taken prisoner and brought back to Isla de Muerta for the blood sacrifice demanded by the Heathen Gods.[2]
However, Jack Sparrow returned to the island and convinced Barbossa to send most of his crew outside to attack the HMS Dauntless. Jack then crossed Barbossa and attacked him, but not before throwing Will a sword taken from another pirate, Monk. Will freed himself and fought Monk, Jacoby, and Weatherby. The battle ended with Will lifting the curse of the Aztec Gold which enabled Jack to kill Barbossa. Now mortal once again, the pirates aboard the Dauntless surrendered to Commodore James Norrington's naval forces.[2]
Design and usage[]
Unlike the ceremonial sword he made for Commodore Norrington's promotion, Will Turner's weapon looked simple. It had a plain cast-iron grip, and a "half-basket" hilt protected his hand. The blade was special as, by using the methods of Spanish swordsmiths, Will had made it immensely strong, yet light and flexible. It also had a double edged point for cutting and thrusting. Will proudly engraved his own name on this blade.[1]

- In the At World's End comic when Will stabs Davy Jones in the back Jones breaks Will's sword instead of bending it.
